THE SENTINEL

I've started a series of Nature paintings. This 12"x16" original acrylic painting on canvas is titled The Sentinel and is painting No. 3. Rather than spend so much time on painting larger paintings with loads of detail, which I have to sell for a lot more money, I thought I'd try painting in a loser style. The painting of The Sentinel has been continued onto the edge of the canvas so no frame is needed, just hang it on the wall. The cost of this painting is $25. plus shipping (about $10.) unless you live nearby or in Woodstock, NB.

FACEBOOK REPLY: I'm having fun with the brushes and paint, but in a sense, even though much of my work has been very tight, I've never really taken it very serious - hard to believe that I've earned a living off my talents all these years - seemed picking up those crayons at an early age was a good idea and now that I'm somewhat physically challenged, I've decided for the moment to do a string of paintings that anyone can afford and they make good gifts for my relatives and friends too - like your style man!

  3. FACEBOOK COMMENT: Pokorny hi len, frank p. here! . i like you new painting. it' s one of those works you look at, and ponder, and try yo read into the work. of course everyone might get a different message from it . i'd like to see some more. as it is, i'm going to try a new path for my work. presently my style between impressionism leaning to realism. i'm also wanting to be more into purer colour, composition and semi abstract . like you,... let the onlooker decide , got 2 new eyes! had catarac surgurey done. i can see colour again Len. cheers, Frank

FACEBOOK REPLY: hi Frank - like you, I just had the cataracts removed from my eyes and although the colours are definitely more defined, there seems to be slight shadows around the images, which I'm hoping glasses will correct. Just the same, my eyesight is definitely a lot better. Most of the latest paintings I did were realistic leaning towards surrealism, which take quite a long time to do, especially because of their large sizes. Also, since I didn't retire with any pensions, just old age and a small CPP because I had my own business for many years, I still have to earn somewhat of a living, hence the smaller paintings that most anyone can afford. Hoping to have a bunch ready for a coming up Christmas craft show. However, all said and done, I like the looseness and the sense of freedom painting in this latest style. I've never really taken my art seriously, even though I've sold a shit load of it over the years, mostly commissioned work. Not sure there is any real message in any of it, probably more in my writings, especially when I published The Messenger for three years before my health took a big dump. At any rate, at the moment, I'm trying to do a painting a day or every couple of days since my energy is so low. I'd like to see some of your stuff and maybe one day we'll paint together again - I'd like that - cheers my friend.
